Dr Arturo Rey da Silva is a Lecturer in Heritage and co-Director of the Cultural Heritage Futures Programme  at the University of Edinburgh, as well as he is the Co-Chair of the Ocean Decade Heritage Network. His expertise lies in maritime archaeology, cultural policies, heritage diplomacy, and heritage preservation and governance, particularly in marine spaces. His research and practice connect heritage policy with global challenges, with particular attention to the role of marine cultural heritage within the World Heritage system, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development.
