ICOMOS
The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is a global non-governmental organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of cultural heritage sites and monuments worldwide. It brings together professionals from diverse disciplines to develop standards and promote best practices in heritage preservation. ICOMOS is the parent organization of ICUCH.
ICUCH was established in 1991 by ICOMOS Australia to foster international collaboration in the protection and management of underwater cultural heritage. As an international scientific committee of ICOMOS, ICUCH provides expert advice on underwater heritage issues and supports ICOMOS in advancing global efforts to safeguard submerged cultural resources.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) promotes international collaboration in education, science, culture, and communication to build peace, advance sustainable development, and foster intercultural dialogue.
ICUCH is a partner and advisory body to the Secretariat of the 2001 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage. In this role, ICUCH supports the implementation of the Convention by offering expert advice, promoting best practices, and helping protect underwater cultural heritage around the world.
