
Matt Carter
Dr. Matt Carter is a marine archaeologist, technical diver, and ocean advocate who develops and leads scientific expeditions for the marine research organization Inkfish. Since 2003, he has worked on underwater archaeological projects in 17 countries, from excavating ancient shipwrecks to leading expeditions surveying the ghost fleets of Bikini Atoll and Chuuk Lagoon. Since 2018, Matt has directed the survey and assessment of more than 80 World War II shipwrecks across the Blue Pacific that pose active or potential pollution risks. An International Fellow and EC50 Awardee of the Explorers Club, Matt has also served as Vice President of the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology. He is recognized as a subject matter expert by the United Nations, IUCN, and other heritage and environmental organizations.
