Gay Lacsina

Gay Lacsina is a faculty member of the School of Archaeology of the University of the Philippines. She is a maritime archaeologist with an interest in ancient watercraft construction in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Her 2016 doctoral thesis examined the Butuan Boats, which were first excavated in Butuan City in the 1970s.
Dr. Lacsina earned her PhD degree in Archaeology from Flinders University, Australia, and her Master of Arts in Archaeology from the University of the Philippines in 2009. She previously worked at the National Museum of the Philippines’ Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage Division as a researcher and curator from 2016 to 2021, after starting her career in the institution as a researcher in the Archaeology Division in 2004.
